“Beyond the Flight” was born from reflection - how passion and perseverance intertwine when things don’t go as planned.
The day the Toronto Blue Jays lost the final game, I felt that familiar ache that comes when passion meets disappointment. I thought of all the hours, all the effort, all the belief poured into something you love and how easily it can seem to vanish in a single moment. But as I painted this blue jay watching a butterfly drift away, I realized that endings are never really final. There’s always another dawn, another brushstroke, another flight. The magnolias around them remind me that beauty thrives in both strength and fragility, that creation itself is an act of hope.
This piece isn’t about baseball. It’s about resilience. About the courage to rise, to keep creating, and to let your spirit take flight again.
